Apple IOS 7 Update – Outgoing Email Issue
There is a bug in the iOS 7 mail program that stops the incoming and/or outgoing e-mail from functioning.

Work Around:  There appears to be several items that may be required to fix this issue with various results on different devices, but you may have to try each of these items on the user’s device:

  1) Restart the device. Follow Apple’s instructions - Restart the iOS device.

2) Delete and reconfigure your email account on the device.

3) You must disable SSL for the outgoing server and modify the outgoing port to either 587 or 25.

4) You must disable SSL for the incoming server and modify the incoming port to 110 (POP3) or 143 (IMAP).


Detailed Directions:

Incoming server settings

1) Select the Settings icon on your device, which will bring up the following screen. Figure 1

2) Select Mail, Contacts, Calendars from within settings.

3) Choose the email account configuration you wish to manage.

4) Scroll down to select Advanced Settings.

5) Set the SSL setting is set to OFF.

6) Set the Server Port  to 110(POP3) or 143(IMAP).

7) Press Back

8) Press Done

Outgoing server settings

1) Select the Settings icon on your device,

2) Select Mail, Contacts, Calendars from within settings.

3) Choose the email account configuration you wish to manage.

4) Select the Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP).

5) Select the Primary Server.

6) Set the SSL setting is set to OFF.

7) Set the Server Port  to either 587 or 25. (This selection varies based on your Internet provider.

8) Press Done.

9) Press Back.

10) Press Done.
