There are a multitude of reasons why you may not be able to send e-mail. Most are do to the fact that spammers are so prevalent these days and everyone is trying to stop them. Many ISP's will block the default SMTP port (connection your computer uses to send e-mail). Most hotels will not allow SMTP traffic through their guest connection in any form. And security software you install to your PC is trying to protect you. There are a few ways to configure your e-mail client to successfully send anyway.
1) Make sure the outgoing server setting in Outlook is set to Authenticate Outgoing E-Mail.
2) Set the Outgoing server(SMTP) port to 587. This is an alternate connection for outgoing e-mail through our mail server. The only 2 port numbers HostWorks will accept for outgoing e-mail are 25 and 587.
3) Test your Antivirus/Security software by disabling it and then trying to Send/Receive e-mail. The method for this is all dependant on the type of security software you are using. If this method is successful you will need to contact the vendor for that software package in order to determine the steps to send e-mail with their software enabled.
4) Try using the outgoing server (SMTP) of the ISP that you are using to connect to the Internet. This will generally require having a login account with the Internet provider and you will have to get the SMTP server name or address from that provider.
